Yes! The prize is in your hands. While you spend countless hours marveling at your baby, you still have 24/7 access to your midwife. Sleep deprivation is a challenge and if postpartum anxiety creeps up, you are not alone. Your most important job is staying in bed with your baby and only getting up for your own bathroom needs. Planning to have support is an important part of the process. Support to help with meals & house chores is so beneficial. Often churches and friend groups will create meal trains. When people offer help, take them up on it! Having a list in the kitchen can help take out the guesswork and lessen any awkward moments when you just want the dog poop picked up in the backyard.
The more time you spend skin-to-skin with your baby, the better recovery and transition will be for both of you.
All postpartum care is done in your home:
- Breastfeeding Support
- Baby Weight Checks
- Newborn Screening: Program Frequently Asked Questions
- Congenital heart defect screening: https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/heartdefects/hcp.html
- Newborn Exam
- Mamma's Well-Being
- Perineum Assessments
- Verification of Birth Facts for the birth certificate.
We also discuss pelvic floor, exercise, returning to intimacy, mom life & preparing for the workforce.
